YOUR SUBMISSION VIDEO
Each video will be watched and judged by members of our staff. All judging scores will be added together for each comic and a point total will be given. After registration is closed, a list of the Top 40 for Satellites and Top 101 Comics will be posted on this website.
Judges will be looking at three categories:
Originality: Have we heard these jokes before from another comic? An email? On the street? Did you use “easy” jokes such as sex, bowel movements, or the objects inside your nose? Were you able to be funny without being too dirty?
Stage Presence: Did you seem comfortable on stage? Did you shake, stutter, or just blank out? Did you talk to the entire room? Did you look down or look up too much?
Overall: Your entire performance as a whole.
YOUR LIVE PERFORMANCE
There will be at least three judges at each show. Some shows may have more judges. These judges are the comedy bookers who may be giving you work. So, if more than the three judges that are scheduled to judge show up, we will let them judge. This is good for you as you will be seen by more bookers and may get work even if you don’t win. Each category is worth up to 10 points. The maximum points each contestant can score is 30 points from each judge.

AUDIENCE VOTING
The audience will be voting on each comic’s performance on a scale from 1 to 5. They will NOT be judging the comics against each other, so they could give each comic 5 points if they wanted to.
The comic with the largest number will have 5 points added to the judges’ scores, 2nd Place – 4 points, 3rd Place – 3 points, 4th Place – 2 points and 5th Place – 1 point.
It is set up this way so that even if a comic brings every person in the audience to vote for them, the most points they could get added to their score is 5. More weight is given to the judges’ scores than the audience’s scores for a better balance to the competition.

THE MAIN EVENT JUDGES
The judges will be the comedy club owners and bookers who give us work for The Main Event prizes. Each year we get more and more of them coming out to The Main Event. There will be at least three judges per show, but most of the time there are five to six judges per show.

Live Satellite JUDGES
The Judges will be Joe Lowers, President & CEO of The World Series of Comedy, and Jason Rowland Vice President of The World Series of Comedy, and the owner or general manager of the comedy club holding the satellite contest. Sometimes there may be a forth judge and they will be a local headliner or a local celebrity.

Online Showcase JUDGES - THIS IS NOT HAPPENING THIS SEASON
The judges will be the comedy club owners and bookers who are taking time out from their busy schedule to judge the Online Showcase. There will be at least three judges per Online Showcase, but we will be working towards having five to six judges per Online Showcase.

All of the work to be won in The World Series of Comedy is Feature/Middle work. Most bookers are not looking for comics who are really dirty or swear a lot in this position. If you can show us that you can be funny without being too dirty, then you will go far in this contest and in your career. You don’t have to be squeaky clean, just be original and funny. Once you become the Headliner, you can swear all you want!
